Diploma in Auxilliary Nursing Midwife (ANM)

Community Health Nursing (120 hrs): This course is designed to help students gain an understanding the concepts of community health in order to introduce them to wider horizons of rendering nursing services in community health set up, both in urban and rural areas.

Health Promotion (120 hrs): This course is designed to equip students to gain an overall understanding about nutritional needs, human body, self hygiene and mental health along with environmental sanitation

Primary Health care Nursing I (130 hrs): This course equips students with basic understanding of various types of infections and communicable diseases and the problems that arise in the community due to these diseases alongwith immunisation and first aid also.

Child Health Nursing (75 hrs): This course is designed to help students understand the concept of child health and management, trends in child care and the health problems of children. This will enable the students to meet the needs of the children in health and sickness.

Part 1(First 6 months)

Midwifery (200 hrs): This course is designed to help students acquire knowledge and gain skills to meet the health needs of women during the period of pregnancy, labour and puerperium. The students will able to identify different gynaecological disorders, diseases and gain skills in proving nursing care to women suffering from these disorders and disease.

Health Center Management (40 hrs): This course is designed to familiarise and equip students with the health facility setup and to understand its functioning.

Part 2 (Last 6 months)

This duration is for Internship of students in various wards across a government facility.


B.Sc. Nursing

Anatomy and Physiology (60hrs): This course is designed to help students gain knowledge of the structure and function of the human body and recognize any deviation from normal health in order to render effective nursing care.

Nutrition & Biochemistry (120 hrs): This course is designed to help students gain knowledge of the nutrition is an integral component of health since nutrients play a vital role in the growth, development and maintenance of the body.

Nursing Foundation (465 hrs): This course is designed to help students develop an ability to meet the basic health need of the patients with regard to nursing care and develop skill in the competencies required for rendering effective patient care.

Psychology (60 hrs): This course is designed to help students gain knowledge regarding human behaviour and concepts of mental health. This will enable them to develop positive attitude and good inter-personal relationships in the practice of nursing in all health care settings.

Microbiology (60 hrs): This course is designed to help students gain knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and activities of micro-organisms, how they react under different conditions and how they cause different disorders and diseases. Knowledge of this principle will enable student to understand and adopt practices associated with preventive and promotive care.

Computer (45 hrs): This course is designed to help students to develope computer skills for better working in their future jobs.

English (60 hrs): This course is designed to help students develop an ability to comprehend spoken and written English, so as to communicate effectively in his language.

Sociology (60 hrs): This course is designed to help students gain Understanding of sociology in the context of its relevance to nursing practice.

Medical Surgical Nursing - I (210 hrs): This course is designed to help students understands the concept of disease and disease process. Students will able to gain knowledge and develop understanding of various, medical surgical disorders and diseases. They will be able to give comprehensive nursing care to patients with these diseases.

Pharmacology, Pathology, Genetics (90 hrs): This course equips us to understand the classification, action of various drugs and the role of Nurses. The students are expected to know the patghology of diseases and also understand the counselling of various genetic diseases.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (PB.BSc.)

Nursing Foundation (45hrs): This course will help students develop an understanding of the philosophy. Objective and responsibilities of nursing as profession. Objectives and responsibilities of nursing as a profession. The purpose of the course is to orient to the current concepts involved in the practice of nursing and developments in the nursing profession.

Nutrition & Dietetics (Theory-30hrs, Practical-15): This course is designed to provide the students with a wide knowledge of dietetics in Indian setting, that the practice of teaching optimum and realistic dietary planning can become an integral part of nursing practice.

Biochemistry & Biophysics (30hrs+30hrs): This course introduces the basic principles of biochemistry and biophysics related to nursing.

Psychology (Theory -60, Practical 15 hrs): This course is designed to reorient and widen the student's knowledge of fundamentals of psychology. The student is offered an opportunity to apply the theoretical concepts in the clinical settings and thereby understand the psychodynamics of patient behavior. This course would also help the student to develop an insight in to her own behavior.

Microbiology (Theory -60, Practical 15 hrs): This course reorients the students to the fundamentals of microbiology and its various sub division. It provides opportunities to gain skill in handling and use of microscope for identifying various micro-organisms. It also provides opportunities for safe handling of materials containing harmful bacteria and methods for destroying microorganisms.

Maternal Nursing (Theory -60, Practical 15 hrs): This course is designed to widen the students' knowledge of obstetrics during pregnancy, labour and puerperium. It also helps to acquire knowledge and develop skill in rendering optimum nursing care to a child bearing mother in a hospital or community and help in the management of common gynaecological problems.

Child health nursing (Theory -60, Practical 15 hrs): This course is aimed at developing an understanding of the modern approach to childcare, the common health problems of children and neonates in health and sickness.

Medical Surgical Nursing-(Theory-90 Hrs, Practical-270 Hrs): The purpose of this course is to widen the student's knowledge and develop proficiency in caring for patients with medical surgical problems. This course includes review of relevant anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology in medical-surgical disorders and the nursing management of these conditions.

English (Theory-60 hrs): This course is designed to help the student understand and usage of English language required for their professional work.

Sociology(60hrs): This course is to reorient students to sociology related to community and social institution in India and its relationship with health, illness and nursing

Community health Nursing (theory-60 hrs, practical-240 hrs): This course enables the students to understand the national health care delivery system and to participate in the delivery of community health nursing

Mental Health Nursing-(theory -60 hrs, practical 240 hrs): This course is enable the students to recognize and appreciate the causes, symptoms and process of abnormal human behavior. It also introduces the student to the present day treatment modalities in the light of psychological, social, and cultural factors affecting human behavior.

Introduction to Nursing Education -(theory -60 hrs, practical 75 hrs): This course introduces the students to principles and concept of education, curriculum development and methods and teaching medium. It is also describes the steps in curriculum development and implementation of educational programme in nursing

Introduction to Nursing Service Administration -(theory -60 hrs, practical 180 hrs): This course is designed to give an opportunity to the student to gain an understanding of the principles of administration and its application to nursing services.it is also intended to assist the students to develop an understanding of professional leadership need.

Introduction to Nursing Research and Statistics-(theory -45 hrs, practical 120 hrs): This course is designed to assist the students to develop an understanding of the basics concepts of research and statistics, use the findings of nursing research in nursing practice, apply the knowledge in conducting projects and solve nursing problems using scientific method
